Key members of the records management and archival community gathered at the University of Victoria on April 28 to share ideas about record storage and management in the digital age. The day-long conference featured a wide range of speakers, including experts from provincial and federal government, Simon Fraser University and museums.

Access Records and Media Management CEO Gail Gordon (left) and Client Relations Manager Jenny Paiva were on hand to greet archivists and records professionals at the AABC/ARMA VI Joint Conference 2017. The event was held at the University of Victoria.


The key note presentation was “Defending Traditional Rights in the Digital Age: A Case Study” by speakers Michelle Barroca & Margaret Teneese of the Ktunaxa Nation. Other topics included “Legal Issues in Record Keeping in the Cloud” by Darra Hoffman of UBC’s School of Library, Archival and Information Studies and “Digital Initiatives at Library and Archives Canada” by Marnie Burnham.

Access Records was one of the sponsors of the closing event, a social gathering at Yates Street Tap House.

The annual conference is organized by the Archives Association of British Columbia and Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
